On June 28, 2005, I published a mediocre-at-best “poem” and then immediately, in a fit of bizarre self-criticism, denigrated it. The act was peculiarly satisfying, like I’d just eaten an indulgent meal and promptly vomited it back up, clearing stomach and conscience with one act. Unfortunately, I posted the criticism anonymously, and its somewhat derogatory tone pushed Sturgeon, our eloquent facilitator, to respond in kind.

General, I salute your positive tone and thoughtful response, and I apologize for misleading you (and any of our million-strong readership). If any such mischief occurs in the future, accept my apologies for that as well. I would also like to retract responsibility for the poetic drivel I posted: It was a vehicle for controversy and not a genuine artistic effort on my part.

but I do have to stay I’m a little disappointed in the prospect of the internet that you actually had to falsify a random anonmymous asshole. i thought that was why al gore invented it in the first place…
